Base Location: Perth preferred; however, we will consider your base 'home' location to be one of our other SSEN offices or depots in Scotland and you will be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of these locations.

Our Distribution System Operator directorate has an exciting opportunity to join our Flexible Solutions Team as a Delivery Engineer. In this role, you will support the delivery and commissioning of equipment that enables Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to connect flexibly to our network using real‑time monitoring solutions. You will play a key role in the engineering elements of multiple live projects—identifying and resolving issues, managing risks, engaging with customers and stakeholders ensuring projects are delivered successfully and to agreed customer satisfaction targets.
You will:
- Review and approve customer, and internal, technical design documents.
- Provide excellent customer service to guide customers on technical aspects.
- Plan and coordinate work activities, including contractors, to install equipment for our customer connections.
- Manage and configure Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) Controllers, and other intelligent electronic devices, to implement functional logic and associated small wiring.
- Follow test procedures to commission RTUs and ensure logic is functioning correctly.
You have:
- Demonstrated experience of meeting customer connection timelines while delivering on quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Power On and PROMIS with the ability to become proficient in the use of other software applications.
- A solid understanding of the electrical distribution network and the fundamental principles of electrical power engineering; you will hold or be willing to work towards achieving an HNC in Electrical Engineering.
- Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers, RTUs or similar devices (preferred) using configuration applications such as Workbench or Putty.
- Experience with Automation/SCADA/Real‑Time‑Systems preferred or working towards.
- Knowledge of Flexibility Services and Connections would be advantageous.
This role involves travel across various locations to support operational needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work‑related travel. The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role. A valid driving licence is essential.
