At SSE, safety is our top priority. We prioritise injury prevention, environmental protection, and ensuring everyone is healthy and happy at work. Our Safety, Health, and Wellbeing (SHW) team supports this by helping teams across SSE deliver on safety and ensuring everyone gets home safely. We are looking for two Project Safety Managers to join our Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) team, ensuring proactive safety advice and guidance throughout SSEN Transmission. The roles will focus on working within our various large capital projects as we invest significantly in upgrading critical national infrastructure as part of our Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) programme.

You will:

  • Provide safety management and expertise to ensure the successful implementation of our Safety Management System.
  • Manage various aspects of safety across onshore and offshore worksites together with the Project Management team.
  • Ensure legislative compliance (including CDM Regulations) and engage with Contractors to deliver incident free projects.
  • Effectively manage a team of Occupational Safety Advisors to help foster a positive culture towards creating a healthy, happy and safe workplace.
  • Drive safety standards across all areas and champion the use of SSE's Safety Licence: if it's not safe, we don't do it!

You have:

  • Experience in safety management on onshore and offshore construction projects, with a pragmatic, flexible, people centred approach. Experience working on mega projects is desirable.
  • Demonstrable knowledge-based experience and a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification. Ideally you would be working towards becoming a Chartered Member of IOSH.
  • A sound knowledge and application of Health & Safety legislation, in particular Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Professional stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive cross business collaboration and build a high performing, commercially and customer focused safety culture.
  • A wide range of techniques to influence change at all levels of the organisation and the ability to identify and investigate complex technical issues/risks to provide appropriate solutions.

Please note, due to the nature of travel associated with this role, a valid UK Driving Licence is essential.
