Salary: £58,100 – £87,100 depending on skills and experience + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role

SSEN Transmission has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join the Onshore Capital Delivery team. This role is specifically for delivery of an overhead line & substation project currently in the construction phase, alongside major new onshore (overhead line, underground cable and substation) transmission infrastructure projects in West of Scotland, which form part of our Large Capital Delivery Portfolio. Therefore, it is essential that the project manager lives within commuting distance of Glasgow or Dunoon/Argyll area.

It is an exciting period of growth for SSEN Transmission, with an increasing number of complex and challenging infrastructure projects to develop and deliver. The Project Manager is a pivotal role in our Capital Delivery team and the successful candidate will play an important part in enabling the energy transition, supporting the Scottish and UK Government’s Net Zero ambitions.

You will:

  • Lead and inspire the SSEN project team via matrix management, working in partnership with external contractors to ensure we deliver project excellence and uphold our promises.
  • Oversee the refinement and execution of large capital projects, ensuring that these are delivered safely and on time, while meeting cost and quality targets.
  • Champion adherence to our Safety Management Systems, following best practices, and ensuring SSE Large Capital Projects (LCP) Governance processes are strictly followed.
  • Embody the SSE Safety Culture and core leadership values, showing a proactive approach to safety management, with demonstrable experience of safety mitigation techniques.
  • Align project delivery with SHE Transmission RIIO-T2 completion and T3 Business Plan, ensuring we meet our environmental and safety goals while supporting the wider community.

You have:

  • A solid foundation in engineering and construction, with experience in developing, managing, and reporting on significant infrastructure projects.
  • A professional qualification in Engineering or Project Management, or equivalent experience.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, with a proven history of successfully delivering major projects.
  • Experience with NEC3 Suite of Contracts and familiarity with the reporting and management requirements that come with overseeing complex projects.
  • An open and collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships across diverse teams.
