Base Location: Swindon, Melksham, Andover, Slough, Oxford, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Aldershot, Basingstoke, New Forest, Poole, Reading or Theale.

Salary: £43,704 - £57,728 depending on skills and experience + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We are looking for a new Land Consents Manager to join our busy Customer Delivery team based in Southern England. Our Land Consents Managers play a pivotal role for the successful delivery of our project portfolio in order to support a net carbon zero future across our electricity distribution network.

In this role you will be in charge of securing, maintaining and managing strategic land and property rights for underground cables, overhead lines and ground mounted plant on both public and privately-owned land. You will:

  • Devise land consents strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and sustainably as well as managing risk to future network security.
  • Manage preparation, negotiation and successful acquisition of wayleaves, easements, land purchases, lease agreements and access permissions.
  • Assess and negotiate successful settlement of compensation claims and agent/legal fees.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop and foster positive working relationships.
  • Work with and assist wider internal teams to drive collaborative working and accountable decision making in support of land rights strategy.
  • Assist with lodging Section 37 and Necessary Wayleave applications with the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

The role will require regular travel and a full current driving license is essential.

You have:

  • Experience securing both voluntary and statutory consents ideally within Electricity Distribution including land acquisition experience.
  • Experience of working with key stakeholders, such as landowners, tenants, and their agents, local authorities and national agencies.
  • Knowledge of relevant consents and environmental legislation.
  • Knowledge of the Electricity Act 1989, Permitted Development Rights and utilisation of statutory rights.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
