The role
As a Civil Operations Engineer at SSEN Transmission, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV Transmission network. This is a key opportunity to contribute to the success of a leading energy company while advancing your civil engineering expertise.
You will:
- Be given the opportunity to develop pragmatic solutions to keep our existing 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV Transmission sites working to ensure a safe, flexible, and operational networks.
- Manage and undertake asset collection to create the world class asset management system that is managed by SSEN's Transmission team.
- Review and accept contractor designs for interaction with the SSEN's Transmission network.
- Project manage civil aspects of operational works and ensure that operation of plant and equipment is compliant with the company's Operational Safety Rules and industry best practice.
- Undertake structural assessments of buildings and bridges.
- Be part of the team delivering the Network for Net Zero, while building your understanding of key safety legislation.
You have:
- Knowledge of statutory, regulatory and licence requirements.
- The ability to develop a detailed operational understanding of electricity network technical and safety requirements, including outage management.
- Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to review performance issues and identify practical engineering solutions.
- The ability to build and develop effective working relationships with colleagues.
- A minimum HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), with experience in a utility or engineering environment.
- A full and valid UK driving licence is essential.
