The role:
- As part of SSEN Transmission’s Pathway to 2030 programme of works and beyond, we are looking for an Assistant Civil Project Engineer to join the HVDC team.
- You’ll help drive projects forward and bring fresh thinking to support delivery of a network for Net Zero.
- Many projects are based in the Caithness and Aberdeenshire, so willingness to travel (or being locally based) is desirable.
- Provide civil engineering support across multiple projects, creating outline designs during development phases (including site/route selection, ground investigation specifications, earthworks design and public road upgrades).
- Provide site support during the construction phase, including site supervision, resolving technical queries, identifying non-conformances/quality issues and closing out actions.
- Support the civil engineering team to resolve technical issues and prepare reports, scopes of work and specifications.
- Apply CDM Regulations in your role as a Designer, supporting safe and buildable solutions.
- Develop scopes of work and detailed specifications.
You have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or an equivalent qualification) with relevant technical experience across client, consultant, or contractor environments in the UK construction industry.
- Sound knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and CDM Regulations, with a proactive approach to safe, practical and buildable design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively within project teams.
- Understanding of multi-disciplinary team working, with a willingness to learn from and collaborate across different engineering disciplines.
- Experience in using digital design tools such as Infraworks and/or Civil 3D to support early-stage design development.
