Salary: £58,100 – £87,100 plus car/cash allowance, performance‑related bonus, and a range of other benefits.

Role Overview: As part of SSEN Transmission’s Pathway to 2030 programme, we are looking to appoint Assistant Engineering Managers to support our HVDC and HVAC project portfolios. These roles will play a key part in driving projects forward and bringing innovative thinking to support the growth of our engineering teams and the successful delivery of a Net Zero network.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Engineering Manager in delivery of cable engineering work scope for HVDC roles.
- Support the Engineering Manager in delivery of new high‑voltage substation work scopes for HVAC onshore roles.
- Apply robust design and engineering governance.
- Lead and line‑manage a multidisciplinary team of project engineers.
- Promote safety‑in‑design ethos and discharge CDM duties on behalf of SSE.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technical requirements, risks and opportunities are defined, communicated, and managed.
Qualifications:
- BEng/CEng qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline.
- Experience in a senior/lead role overseeing a multidisciplinary team and construction project through the full lifecycle.
- Strong literary and interpersonal communication skills to explain complex technical issues to senior management.
- Competent knowledge of electricity networks and legal/regulatory constraints (e.g., ESQCR, CDM).
- Experience and understanding of ECC and FIDIC contracts.
