Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations – Glasgow, Perth, Inverness or Aberdeen
Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As part of SSEN Transmissions Offshore Portfolio of works, we have an opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our newly formed Offshore AC Project Engineering team to help drive forward our Island projects and successfully deliver a network for Net Zero. Our Island projects facilitate the connection to our HVDC systems and include state-of the-art AC plant, grid control and stabilisation technology in challenging environmental conditions.
You will
– Take responsibility for Civil Engineering delivery on assigned transmission projects of typical capital value £100M – £1B.
– Promote and manage safety within assigned projects through the implementation of CDM procedures and safety in design. Fulfilling the role of Designer or Principal Designer under CDM.
– Define scope and managing budgets for embedded engineering consultants and project driven engineering consultancy services.
– Provide technical input for your specialist discipline as well as interfacing with other technical and project functions to ensure a co-ordinated approach to project delivery and identification and resolution of key risks.
– Have functional responsibility in specialist discipline for Engineers and for consultants. May need to coordinate the resourcing of engineers from other disciplines, subject to the scale of the project.
You have
– A Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (Civil Engineering degree or similar, preferably CEng or working towards this).
– Knowledge and experience of Energy or Networks industries are preferable.
– Good technical knowledge of industry standards and specifications, and technical specifications, and how to determine applicability of relevant standards.
– In depth understanding of CDM Regulations.
– The ability to communicate complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner to facilitate decision making by senior management.
