The role:
At SSE Renewables, we’re delivering some of the most ambitious clean energy infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK — helping accelerate the transition to a net zero future. With a growing portfolio of Onshore Wind, Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, we are seeking an experienced Civils Construction Package Project Manager (CPPM) to play a key role in safely delivering major renewable energy developments from construction through to energisation.
- Lead the safe delivery of civil balance‑of‑plant (cBoP) work packages across SSE Renewables’ Onshore Wind, Solar and BESS projects, managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors to achieve programme, budget and quality targets.
- Champion SSE’s “If it’s not safe, we don’t do it” safety culture while ensuring compliance with environmental, regulatory, technical assurance and quality standards across all construction activities.
- Drive effective project controls through accurate progress, risk, financial and programme reporting, supporting Large Capital Project (LCP) governance requirements and construction readiness milestones.
- Administer NEC/FIDIC contracts and manage commercial performance, scope, change control and project risks, while embedding lessons learned and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, statutory bodies, landowners and local communities to support successful project delivery and enhance SSE Renewables’ reputation across Ireland and the UK.
You have:
- An engineering, construction or project management qualification/degree, or equivalent experience delivering major civil infrastructure projects.
- A proven track record of safely leading complex construction projects through the full lifecycle within major infrastructure, utilities or renewable energy environments.
- Experience managing project costs, programme, quality and contractor performance on large‑scale civil works packages.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, NEC/FIDIC contracts, project controls, programme management and risk management processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- The flexibility to work across multiple project sites, including extended periods on‑site as required.
