We are looking for an experienced Civil Crafts/Tradesperson to join our team.
As a craftsperson you will undertake running repairs to electrical substation buildings and enclosures, including painting, fencing, carpentry, bricklaying, small roofing, small wiring, windows and glazing, and any other adhoc activities that assist in the installation, repair, and upkeep of operational buildings within SSEN.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform tasks such as painting, fencing, carpentry, bricklaying, small roofing/wiring, glazing, and other building upkeep activities under ESQCR regulations.
- Carry out risk assessments and follow Lone Working Procedures; stop work if health and safety rules are breached and escalate immediate risks promptly.
- Apply correct Health and Safety risk assessments to mitigate hazards effectively.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations when working with external contractors and report issues to the civils compliance coordinator or team manager.
- Represent SSE professionally, respond to enquiries, and monitor satisfaction to deliver world‑class service.
Qualifications
- Proven background in a construction trade.
- Ability to work alone.
- A good level of Health and Safety awareness.
- Excellent communication skill and the ability to speak with people at all levels.
- IT skills to enable the recording and updating of all required data.
- A full UK driving licence and a flexible approach to working hours and work location (a company vehicle will be provided for work duties).
