Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in our Reading office.

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + performance‑related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role:

Energy Customer Solutions (ECS) is the customer business and shopfront for SSE. Our Strategy Manager will be the focal point for trends analysis on strategic developments in the energy sector (relevant to ECS in its current and future strategic context) and be responsible for working with ECS business units to deliver strategic projects.

You will:

  • Monitor ECS markets, analysing and reporting on relevant market trends and changes, including assessing associated opportunities.
  • Engage with ECS leadership Squads / Sprints / business lines, to shape and incubate strategy projects.
  • Identify and assess trends and developments that directly impact ECS’s offerings and/or support its strategic direction.
  • Disseminate key takeaways to the management team and work with key stakeholders/teams across the business (Group Innovation, Partnership and business development).
  • Identify delivery vehicles/deliver innovation proof of concepts to help progress delivery of ECS strategy.

You have:

  • Proven experience of monitoring and researching markets and effectively disseminating key takeaways.
  • A strong commercial background, with the ability to calculate commercial opportunity and risk.
  • A demonstrable understanding of SSE’s business areas and the energy industry.
  • Experience of the analytical and organisational techniques for innovation and strategy, including medium to long term (5-10 years) sectoral foresighting and implementation.
  • The ability to communicate and influence across a range of stakeholder groups and levels of seniority.
