The role

The Service Design and Transition Lead is a pivotal role within SSE Transmission’s Digital team, responsible for ensuring that new and enhanced Operational Technology (OT) and IT services are effectively designed, transitioned, and embedded into live operations.

We’re seeking a candidate who is passionate about delivering seamless, secure, and resilient service experiences, ensuring continuity between design, build, and operation in an increasingly digitalised operational environment.

This role underpins the reliability, safety, and performance of SSE’s critical OT infrastructure, enabling the organisation to meet regulatory obligations and support the growing demands of the transmission network.

You Will

  • Lead service design and transition for OT and IT services, ensuring operational readiness, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Define and document service support models for OT systems and digital platforms, including incident response, maintenance, and third-party engagement.
  • Develop and manage transition plans that minimise operational disruption and maintain compliance with NIS Regulations and industry standards.
  • Translate technical designs (ODS, IDS, architecture blueprints) into practical service design deliverables and support models.
  • Collaborate and govern across teams to ensure end-to-end service assurance, risk mitigation, and continual improvement within the service management framework.

You Have

  • Proven experience delivering service design and transition in regulated or critical infrastructure sectors (e.g., utilities, energy, manufacturing).
  • Strong understanding of Operational Technology (OT) environments and IT/OT integration (e.g., SCADA, substation automation, control systems).
  • Deep knowledge of ITIL v4 practices, especially Service Design, Transition, and Continual Improvement.
  • Skilled in translating technical designs into practical, supportable service models and managing third-party suppliers/integrators for service accountability.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities with a strategic, analytical mindset focused on operational impact and practical solutions.
