Our Production Technician Apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to work within SSE Thermal as we seek to become the leading provider of flexible thermal energy in a net zero world. Transforming high-carbon generation assets to low‑carbon whilst ensuring a Just Transition for our people.

What to Expect

Keadby – Home of two CCGT power stations. Keadby 1 entered operation in 1996 whilst Keadby 2, the world’s most efficient plant of its type entered commercial operation in 2023. Plans to further develop the site include Keadby 3, a carbon capture power station and Keadby Next Generation which could be one of the world’s first hydrogen‑fired power stations.

Qualifications:

Our Technical Apprenticeship Programme is a structured four‑year journey designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and hands‑on experience needed to become a qualified Technician. You will gain the following qualification: Level 3 Process Industry Manufacturing Technician: Process Operator.

Hands On Experience:

As a Production Technician Apprentice, you’ll be part of an expert team. You’ll gain invaluable operational problem‑solving skills and develop the technical expertise needed to become a qualified Production Technician.

On the Job Training:

Alongside attending college you’ll undertake hands‑on work‑based learning, where you’ll apply your academic knowledge in real‑world settings. Working alongside experienced professionals, you’ll develop key operational and technical skills, tackle practical challenges, and gain invaluable industry experience.

Future Career:

By the end of the programme, you’ll have developed the expertise and confidence to take the next step in your career as a qualified Production Technician.
