The role:

Thermal IT is growing its Product Analysis capability and we’re looking for an experienced and proactive Product Analyst. You will work within a mature Agile operating model, alongside the Product Owners, business stakeholders and a multidisciplinary delivery team to shape and deliver digital products that improve how SSE Thermal operates, maintains and optimises its assets. It’s a broad and evolving portfolio, offering the opportunity to work across varied value streams, products, processes and challenges such as maintenance and operational excellence, operational mobility and safe systems of work. You may support one or several of these use cases, depending on priorities and your experience.

You will:

  • Lead discovery for assigned demands, working with subject-matter experts and technical teams to define the problem, outcomes, dependencies, change implications, current and future processes and measures of success using proportionate techniques such as process maps, user journeys, use cases and data-flow views.
  • Translate discovery outputs into clear epics, features, user stories, use cases, functional and non-functional requirements, acceptance criteria and supporting product documentation.
  • Where applicable, create wireframes, mock‑ups or prototypes using tools such as Figma to explore requirements, communicate ideas and validate potential solutions with users and stakeholders.
  • Identify integration, information and data requirements; including sources, definitions, data quality, ownership, security, timeliness and retention.
  • Work with the Product Owner to refine and prioritise the backlog, balancing safety, business value, user need, technical feasibility, risk, dependencies and delivery effort.

You have:

  • Proven experience as a Product Analyst, Business Analyst or similar role, translating complex business and user needs into clear requirements for technology delivery.
  • Experience leading analysis across discovery, requirements, delivery, testing and implementation in an Agile or product-led environment.
  • Strong process-analysis skills and practical experience producing artefacts such as process maps, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, data requirements and options assessments.
  • An understanding of how data supports business processes and decisions, including basic concepts such as data sources, fields, definitions, quality and ownership.
  • Ideally, experience in power generation, utilities, oil and gas, manufacturing, transport, process industries or another safety-critical, asset-intensive industrial environment.
