Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations - Reading, Cardiff, London, Glasgow or Perth.

The role is accountable for the engineering and design of ICP electrical networks. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the management of resources is effectively deployed with the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience.
- Managing design risk through robust design principles and hazard identification, including oversight of NERS design processes.
- Providing design assurance, guiding projects through Enterprise Governance, and reviewing and approving designs through the development lifecycle.
- Coordinating resource and expertise in supporting technical bid submissions and techno-economic reviews of contractor proposals.
- Supporting the successful growth of the ICP business.
- Acting as a delegated design authority for projects, ensuring that the basis of design, specification and scope is developed appropriately.
- Inclusively managing a diverse engineering and design team, developing good engineering principles, processes and procedures.
- Setting and/or approving project design development budgets and ensuring they are managed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Building relationships with key senior stakeholders and confidently reporting on projects.
- Identifying hazards and mitigating risk through design, continually monitoring and reducing risk throughout project development.
- Ensuring training and development is identified to enhance the team's understanding and skills in safety through design.
- Securing appropriate resources for projects through our design framework and delivery contractors.
- Monitoring and managing resourcing across projects proactively.
- Responsible for engineering standards and quality of designs, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Creating an inclusive and psychologically safe environment for team development, monitoring performance and providing mentoring and training.
You have:
- Extensive experience in power distribution and electrical infrastructure at HV and EHV in the UK, particularly regulated and licensed networks including NERS processes and ideally in an ICP environment.
- Experience in working with regulated transmission and distribution operators for large connections.
- Significant experience in the management of engineering projects, developing and delivering designs for major electrical infrastructure projects.
- Chartered Engineer or Incorporated status (or can demonstrate working towards professional registration).
- Strong technical skills and a detailed understanding of technical/commercial interactions.
- Experience in identifying, procuring and managing specific engineering disciplines required for multi-disciplinary projects.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
- The ability to work well in a team and demonstrate inclusive behaviours to build a proud and diverse team.
