Base Location: 50% of your working week in one of Glasgow, Perth, Edinburgh or Reading.

Salary: £66,100 - £99,100 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Advanced Analytics & Data (AAD) team within EM supports competitive trading by bringing together advanced data, modelling, and Generative AI to enable better decisions. The team plays a key role in guiding commercial choices that shape P&L performance, helping maximise SSE’s asset value and strengthen proprietary trading activities.

As Senior Analytics Manager, you will lead and support a talented team focused on unlocking the full value of SSE’s assets through meaningful commercial initiatives. You will create an environment where people can contribute their strengths, grow their expertise, and work collaboratively to deliver insights that matter.

This role combines an understanding of market dynamics with strong data and modelling capabilities, alongside the ability to guide a Data Engineering team in delivering reliable, timely data and insights. Together, the team will support operational optimisation, identify emerging market opportunities, and contribute to SSE’s growth across new markets and technologies.

Success in this role comes from thoughtful leadership, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to bring people together around shared goals while delivering impactful outcomes.

You will:

  • Lead, empower, and support the Advanced Analytics & Data team, creating an environment where people can thrive while focusing on delivering meaningful commercial value for Energy Markets.
  • Enable confident decision-making in Trading, supporting activity with over £2.3 billion in daily exposure by providing clear analytics, thoughtful insights, and active participation in market discussions.
  • Guide the continued development of EM’s Analytics Platform, explore the potential of Generative AI, and ensure technical solutions are reliable, scalable, and impactful.
  • Balance immediate business needs with long-term capability building, thoughtfully prioritising initiatives and allocating resources to help Energy Markets remain globally competitive.
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including the EPM Executive Committee, championing the team’s work while fostering collaboration across Energy Markets to achieve shared goals.

You have:

  • Deep understanding of SSE’s energy portfolio and wholesale energy markets.
  • Strong commercial insight and a forward-looking perspective on the evolving energy landscape.
  • Experience applying data science, AI, and machine learning to solve meaningful business challenges.
  • A track record of leading and developing high-performing data science teams while managing an agile portfolio of work.
  • Confidence communicating with senior leaders, shaping strategy, and driving positive change through effective stakeholder engagement.
