The role:

The Project Analyst - Retail Blueprint will play a key role in supporting SSE’s Energy Customer Solutions (ECS) business in achieving our strategic ambition. The Retail Blueprint acts as the bridge between SSE Group and ECS strategy, which sets the top-down strategic direction for the business, and Airtricity delivery, where that strategy is translated into the delivery roadmap, day-to-day priorities, change activity and operational outcomes required to deliver the business plan.

You will support implementation of the Energy Retail Blueprint by translating SSE Group and ECS strategic delivery themes into clear, actionable work packages, plans and materials that enable Airtricity delivery teams to execute at pace.

  • Understand the detail of both ECS and SSE Airtricity’s business plan, including each element's deliverables and the rationale (including business outcomes) that underpins the plan, associated timelines and dependencies.
  • Apply business change principles and disciplined delivery management (scope, milestones, dependencies, risks and benefits) to maintain a single, prioritised Blueprint roadmap aligned to ECS strategy, IT and business change and business delivery commitments.
  • Support change readiness, engagement and adoption by partnering with the communications team to shape and deliver a comms plan that keeps Airtricity (and ultimately wider ECS) informed, aligned and mobilised around Blueprint priorities and progress.
  • Work with senior stakeholders to drive alignment and accountability, securing timely inputs, decisions and sponsorship, escalating blockers, and tracking actions and outcomes to ensure sustained progress towards Blueprint implementation.

You have:

  • An understanding of the end-to-end Airtricity retail operating model e.g. acquisition, onboarding, billing, payments/collections, customer service/complaints and retention.
  • Experience of RAID management (risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies) and maintaining clear action tracking to support delivery governance.
  • The ability to define, track and report progress against milestones, outcomes and benefits (including KPI/MI), providing clear insight to inform decisions and prioritisation.
  • An awareness of core retail systems and data e.g. CRM, billing, digital channels and MI/reporting, and how business change impacts processes, controls and customer experience.
  • Experience communicating complicated projects internally to gain approval through governance processes, and the ability to influence those in senior positions.

Flexible benefits to fit your life:

  • Enjoy discounts on private healthcare and gym memberships.
  • Wellbeing benefits like a free online GP and 24/7 counselling service.
  • Interest‑free loans on tech and transport season tickets, or a new bike with our Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Generous family entitlements such as maternity and adoption pay, and paternity leave.

Work with an equal opportunity employer. SSE will make any reasonable adjustments you need to ensure that your application and experience with us is positive. Please contact Andy on andrew.elder3@sse.com / 01738 340826 to discuss how we can support you.

How to prepare for a job interview at SSE PLC

Show Off Your Customer Service Skills

Retail is all about providing an exceptional customer experience, so be ready to discuss your past customer service stories. We should have examples on hand of how we've handled difficult situations or gone above and beyond to meet a customer's needs. These anecdotes will bring your application to life!

Familiarity with Point of Sale Systems

Many retail roles require us to work with Point of Sale (POS) systems, so it's a good idea to brush up on any relevant software you’ve used before. If you’re familiar with systems like Shopify or Square, don’t forget to mention this during the interview. Highlighting technical proficiency can set us apart from other candidates!

Understand Product Knowledge

We should research popular items or trends in the industry before the interview, so we can speak confidently about them.

Be Ready for Role-Playing Scenarios

Many retail interviews include role-playing scenarios where we might have to deal with a difficult customer or upsell a product. Practising these scenarios with a friend or family member can help us feel more comfortable. The key here is to showcase our problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure!
