The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement and Commercial Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial team to support our SSEN Transmission business. SSEN Transmission is at the heart of the just transition to net zero in the UK. In the coming years, our network will be pivotal in connecting and transporting the power needed to decarbonise the UK’s electricity network and in doing so power the UK’s net-zero and energy security ambitions. Our business is rapidly growing, to deliver the largest investment package that Scotland’s electricity system has ever seen, with a projected investment programme of over £20bn+ in the next 10 years. This role will support the delivery of this ambitious investment programme.
The role will be responsible for leading various strategic Procurement and Commercial activities within SSE Transmission. To successfully operate within a regulated business environment, we require to monitor, control and report on all Procurement and Commercial matters across the portfolio.
You will:
- Understand and support the development of strategic relationships with the supply chain along with effectively managing key interfaces with points of contact in the business and with the wider Procurement and Commercial teams. This will include managing procurement processes.
- Compile and present Procurement and Commercial data, utilizing these reports to generate actionable insights.
- Collaborate with the Procurement and Commercial teams to drive excellence.
- Support the Head of Procurement & Commercial in providing ‘best in class’ service.
- Lead the coordination and execution of various Improvement Initiatives.
- Uphold and enhance Policies and Procedures, continuously seeking and developing innovative methods to improve processes with Procurement and Commercial.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with stakeholders across the business, including Finance, Project Management, Regulation, Delivery Teams, Project Services, and others.
You will:
- Demonstrate experience and advanced competency in Procurement and Commercial activities within a leading role – including cost management, negotiation, procurement, supply chain metrics, etc.
- Exhibit excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail.
- Show excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with an ability to liaise with all levels of the business.
- Have the ability to adapt to changing business environments and priorities.
- Possess an understanding of the industry in which the company operates, including market dynamics and regulatory requirements.
