Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations Glasgow, Perth or Reading.

As a Regulation Analyst, you'll help SSEN Distribution navigate a complex and evolving regulatory landscape, ensuring compliance with licence obligations and industry requirements. Working closely with internal teams, Ofgem and other key stakeholders, you'll support regulatory submissions, analyse policy developments, provide regulatory guidance and contribute to shaping strategic positions that influence the future direction of the business.

You will:

  • Play a key role in preparing and submitting regulatory returns to Ofgem, ensuring compliance with licence obligations, price control commitments and wider regulatory requirements, while working closely with internal subject matter experts and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Monitor and assess industry publications, policy developments, and code modifications, evaluating their potential impact on SSEN Distribution and providing clear recommendations.
  • Develop and submit consultation responses to Ofgem, government departments, and NESO, using robust analysis to influence policy development and represent SSEN Distribution's interests effectively.
  • Provide expert guidance on regulatory obligations, interpreting licence requirements and supporting senior leaders with proactive advice to maintain compliance and manage regulatory risk.
  • Contribute to the development of SSEN Distribution's long-term strategic direction through research and analysis of emerging industry trends, helping to shape regulatory positions and engage key stakeholders.

You have:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience, combined with a solid understanding of regulated business environments, Ofgem requirements, and RIIO price control frameworks is essential.
  • A good knowledge of both Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and research capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and draw meaningful insights.
  • Experience producing high-quality reports, presentations and briefings for senior leaders, regulators and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across teams and with external partners.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, capable of managing multiple workstreams and delivering to challenging deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
