Environmental Manager – Circularity and Resource Efficiency
Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and/or Reading
Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + performance‑related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible; First options available.
Reporting to the Group Environment Manager, the role will support the SSE Group in keeping people, the environment and assets safe. The role will also aid the development and delivery of the SSE Environment Strategy, focusing on leading activities on the strategy’s Responsible Consumption and Production pillar in collaboration with all Business Units and key internal and external stakeholders.
You will
- Lead SSE’s circularity and waste reduction strategies, navigate complex legislation, enhance corporate performance, deliver efficiency and inspire teams to achieve goals swiftly.
- Support delivery across all Business Units, develop and embed a Circularity Roadmap, and deliver best practices within the Group, Business Units, and with key stakeholders.
- Play a critical part within the Corporate SHE Team, working across the UK, Ireland, and other areas to mitigate risk and shape SSE’s approach rapidly.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing and evidencing strategic performance.
You have
- Expertise in circularity and waste management with a proven track record in embedding strategy and delivering positive change in complex, multidisciplinary organisations.
- Strong knowledge of circular economy principles, sustainable procurement, waste management, environmental management, risk management, and related regulatory and corporate requirements.
- Proven experience in delivering and communicating practical solutions to environmental and sustainability challenges.
- Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders across complex, multidisciplinary organisations.
- Proficiency in interpreting and communicating complex data, and strong problem‑solving skills.
- A Degree or Master’s Degree in environmental, sustainability, or a related subject.
- Professional membership of ISEP or equivalent.
