The role

SSE Renewables operate the largest fleet of hydro-electric power assets across eight hydro schemes in Scotland and have the opportunity for an Operations Team Lead to join us at Inverawe. Our portfolio totals 1,459MW of installed capacity, which includes pumped storage and flexible hydro. Our assets consist of some of the most iconic power station sites constructed, which brought hydro-electric power to the Scottish Glens 80 years ago.

You will

- Provide day-to-day management and supervision of a multi-disciplined team of crafts persons and semi-skilled staff.

- Look after the safety of the general public, environment, staff and contractors within the area.

- Coordinate and plan the section workload, utilising a computer-based maintenance system.

- Ensure technical, legislative; environment and safety standards are met.

- Be responsible for managing packages of work.

You will also be provided the opportunity to develop and progress and undertake authorisation training to perform HV switching, plant operations and isolations plus authorised person duties up to Auxiliary Plant Authorisation under the Hydro System Safety Rules.

You have

- Experience in working in a Hydro Generation environment or gained from employment in a similar heavy industry.

- A recognised qualification in an electrical or mechanical discipline is preferred, but more importantly, you must have extensive hands-on experience in an electrical or mechanical engineering environment. You will have the opportunity to work towards an HNC level qualification if required.

- Experience as line manager, with the ability to negotiate and influence a variety of stakeholders across varying levels of seniority.

- Progression is possible by completing the necessary training and assessment process, followed by carrying out the duties and responsibilities of SAP under the Hydro System Safety Rules.

A full UK driving licence is essential for this role and applicants should ideally reside or be prepared to relocate to or within 40 miles of Inverawe Power Station.
