As an Offshore Commissioning Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in bringing major offshore wind assets safely to life. Working across Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) and Transition Piece systems, you’ll support commissioning activities from onshore construction through to offshore energisation and final handover to Operations & Maintenance.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced offshore environment, enjoys working closely with contractors and project teams, and takes pride in delivering complex systems safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
You will:
- Support onshore and offshore commissioning activities across the Dogger Bank offshore wind portfolio through to commissioning completion.
- Provide accurate reporting on commissioning progress, site activities, schedule, and risks, ensuring alignment with project plans and company procedures.
- Participate in pre-energisation and system readiness activities, ensuring systems are safe, compliant, and ready for energisation.
- Interface effectively with contractors and joint venture partners, reviewing commissioning documentation, punch lists, and resolving issues via the project completions system.
- Promote high standards of safety, quality, and delivery, aligned with SSE’s Safety Family culture and project expectations.
You have:
- Experience in an electrical engineering environment, with exposure to LV/HV systems including HV cables, 66kV switchgear, WTG electrical systems, and SCADA.
- Knowledge of offshore wind farm construction, commissioning, or operations, gained in the UK or a comparable industrial sector.
- A relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship, preferably in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience as a Senior Authorised Person up to 66kV, or familiarity with WTSR or Operational Safety Rules (training can be provided).
- Strong coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and work collaboratively across project interfaces.
Additional travel may be required in UK and Europe based on Project requirements.
