National Account Manager – Corporate Sales
Base Location: Reading, Perth or Cardiff
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available
Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + Company car/Car allowance and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.
As Corporate Sales National Account Manager, you\’ll play a central role in leading and developing our TPI and Direct Corporate Sales channels. With a strategic ambition to grow significantly over the next five years, this is a key position where you\’ll help shape and deliver on our long-term commercial goals.
You will play a central role in sourcing and leading the response to large value and complex Energy Supply bids. You will work closely with a variety of teams in the business to create a comprehensive proposition for customers, enabling the production of bespoke yet strategically consistent offerings. You will seek out leads and opportunities for new propositions in order to expand SSE Energy Solution’s footprint in the marketplace. You will also provide excellent customer service to enable strong retention rates once business is won. With a strategic ambition to grow significantly over the next five years, this is a senior position where you\’ll help shape and deliver on our long-term commercial goals.
You will be part of strong team and will be a senior figure within the team. Part of the role will be helping other members of the team interact with other parts of the SSE group to offer their customers solutions outside of normal procurement process.
Key responsibilities
- Actively seek leads and opportunities for tender for large scale volumes and customers
- Forms a “team” to collate responses or produce propositions for identified leads, working with other Sales and Commercial teams to enable the correct pricing and overall proposal to be effective
- Liaise with Legal to receive guidance and feedback on received tenders, particularly around proposed Terms and Conditions, ensuring the business is protected against undue risk
- Responsible for expanding and help develop new propositions such as CPPA’s, EV, Market Reporting and broader energy services as directed by the Head of Major Bids/Business Development
- Conduct Business Development activities for expanding new propositions, sourcing and qualifying leads and engaging with prospects on an ongoing basis to increase the likelihood of consideration for large tenders
- Carry out win/loss reviews against major bids to identify where improvements could be made or segments where there is a trend of successful bids
- Identifying value streams for other parts of the SSE plc group, including our Distributed Energy department, by working with our customers proactively to seek out solutions for energy efficiency and other relevant opportunities.
Knowledge required
- Business acumen and proven experience in responding to major bids
- Clear view and understanding of SSE’s core purpose, strategy and goals
- Comprehensive knowledge of the UK power and gas markets
- Excellent knowledge of the wider SSE businesses and the varying environments in which we operate
- In depth understanding of ECS business strategy and goals
- Understanding of the regulatory environment as it applies to the sales processes within ECS
- Ability to carry out a full commercial review of any opportunity and proposal
