Overview: We have a great opportunity for a Network Asset Inspector (Low-Voltage) also known as a Rising Lateral Mains Asset Inspector to join our team. In this role, you’ll inspect low-voltage electricity cables and equipment that supply power to homes and multi-storey buildings. This includes checking cables, connections and cut-outs to make sure they are safe, in good condition and meet regulatory standards. You’ll work inside properties as well as in communal areas, so good communication and customer service skills are essential. You’ll regularly contact homeowners, landlords and building managers to arrange access and explain the work you’re carrying out. You’ll record your inspection findings using handheld devices, answering condition-based questions that help us keep our network safe and compliant. The role involves travel within your allocated area, and access to a company vehicle will be provided to support this.

You will:

  • Carry out detailed inspections of low-voltage electrical cables that branch off the main distribution network to supply individual properties.
  • Gather and record accurate information to make sure all work meets health and safety requirements.
  • Spot asset defects and raise them through the right channels, always keeping safety as the top priority.
  • Secure access by liaising with landowners, tenants, and property management teams, and efficiently resolving or escalating any access refusals.
  • Act as a company ambassador, presenting a professional and positive image to our customers.

You have:

  • Previous experience of working with electrical cables, meters, wiring and cable installations.
  • Good working knowledge of DNO operations, along with the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations.
  • Familiarity with COSHH regulations and how they apply in practice.
  • Understanding of distribution inspection procedures and relevant statutory requirements.

Travel & Licensing: A full UK driving licence is essential due to the travel component of the role.

Compensation: If you hold an SSE authorisation (Cat 4) you may be eligible for a different pay banding: SS04 up to £40,939.

Benefits: Access to a company vehicle and training. London weighting if based in Slough/London. All required equipment. A range of benefits to support family, finances and wellbeing.
