What is the Role?

The O&M team within SSE Energy Solutions operates many types of Fan Coil Units (FCU). Maintaining these FCUs over their whole life in an efficient and effective manner is core to our overall Operational, Financial and commercial success. The FCU Engineer will work closely with their colleagues across Distributed Energy to ensure our whole life operational activities are based on sound operational experience and industry best practice. They will also be the point of operational escalation and assist on the resolution to significant operational issues and work with the wider heat team for the analysis and evaluation of fault and reliability trends across our Asset base. They will assist on initiatives to overcome the issues identified in the analysis.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Communicate verbal and written information/ideas courteously and effectively.
  • Build and maintain relationships with colleagues working effectively as part of a team and having consideration of others’ needs and skills.
  • Proactively help and support others to achieve team objectives.
  • Provide a high level of service to customers (internal and external).
  • Maintain contact with customers, establish their requirements and respond to them.
  • Effectively prioritise and perform tasks under pressure, demonstrate positive attitude motivation, commitment, perseverance and conscientiousness in delivery of the service.

What do I need?

  • Experience in Operational and Maintenance Service Delivery (Mechanical / HIU / FCU / HVAC / AHU experience).
  • Preparing Method statements, Risk & COSHH Assessments, and Permits to Work.
  • Mechanical / Electrical / Controls engineering in a similar environment; with comprehensive understanding of current industry practices and relevant legislation.
  • Served a recognised apprenticeship and be qualified to ND / City & Guilds/ NVQ level 3 in Mechanical.
  • SMSTS or NEBOSH Certification in Site Safety Management (training can be provided).
