The role involves supporting the secure delivery, operation and continual improvement of technology platforms across SSE Thermal's generation, storage and network operations. This role provides a unique opportunity to work across Operational Technology (OT), cyber security, cloud services and hybrid infrastructure, helping to maintain secure, resilient and reliable platforms that support critical energy operations.
You will:
- Support the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of IT and Operational Technology platforms, ensuring services remain secure, resilient and available.
- Administer and support hybrid infrastructure services across on-premises and cloud environments, including virtualisation, identity, networking and platform services.
- Support security operations activities, including vulnerability remediation, access controls, monitoring, platform hardening and service assurance.
- Develop automation, scripting and process improvements to increase platform reliability, operational efficiency and user experience.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers and project stakeholders to deliver new capabilities and support the lifecycle management of existing services.
You have:
- Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, platform services or hybrid technology environments, including server, virtualisation, cloud or network technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with experience supporting technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Hyper-V, Azure, storage platforms, networking and firewall technologies.
- Experience supporting secure and resilient technology services, including vulnerability management, backup and recovery, identity services, privileged access management, security monitoring or endpoint security solutions.
- Experience using scripting, automation or DevOps tooling such as PowerShell, Bash, Azure DevOps or similar technologies to improve operational efficiency and service reliability.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience or interest in Operational Technology (OT), cyber security, industrial control systems, Linux (RHEL), NIS regulations and critical infrastructure environments would be advantageous.
