Base Location: Fasnakyle/Kilmorack Power Station

Salary: SS04 £34,749 - £40,939 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The role: SSE Renewables operate the largest fleet of hydro‑electric power assets across eight hydro schemes in Scotland and have the opportunity for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join us at Fasnakyle/Kilmorack Power Station. Our portfolio totals 1,459MW of installed capacity, which includes pumped storage and flexible hydro. Our assets consist of some of the most iconic power station sites constructed, which brought hydro‑electric power to the Scottish Glens 80 years ago.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and repairing hydro generation plant
  • Working under a defined safe system of work
  • Plant monitoring and ensuring compliance with our statutory licence conditions
  • Maintaining plant availability, achieved through proactive fault response
  • Upkeep operational hydro structures and associated assets

Qualifications:

  • A minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds or equivalent craft apprenticeship certificates
  • Experience maintaining heavy industrial plant
  • Familiarity with risk assessment process and applying control measures
  • Good communication skills and ability to keep accurate records
  • A full valid UK driving licence is essential
  • Candidate must reside, or be willing to relocate, within 30 miles of the base location
