Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from our Inverness office and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office, or site which could be Thurso, Golspie, Loch Buidhe or Alness.

The role: We have fantastic Project Management opportunities — from Assistant to Senior — to join the SSEN Transmission Capital Delivery team and lead projects through their construction phases as part of Scotland’s transition to Net Zero. These projects vary in scale and complexity, typically ranging from £20m to £500m+. You will contribute to our Pathway to 2030 portfolio, which comprises four major schemes. One of these schemes, based around Inverness, is the project you will play a key part in - Beauly to Spittal.
You will:
- Lead SSE project teams and coordinate multiple external contractors to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget and to the required quality.
- Manage the development and construction phases of large capital projects, ensuring full compliance with governance, standards and regulatory obligations.
- Apply SSE’s Safety Management Systems, best practice and LCP governance throughout all stages of project delivery.
- Develop supportive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maintain clear communication and thoughtful and informed decision making.
- For PM/SPM roles: provide leadership, coaching and direction to team members, supporting performance and professional development.
You have:
- A well-developed background in project management, engineering or construction background with solid knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with a collaborative leadership style and a proven ability to deliver large or complex projects successfully.
- Contract management experience (NEC3 preferred), with the confidence to manage costs, forecasting and integrated project programmes effectively.
- Experience delivering major projects, ideally in electricity transmission, or the ability to adapt and apply skills from other large-scale project environments.
- For PM/SPM roles: experience in line management, with the ability to lead, nurture and guide individuals within a reporting structure.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to site, typically spending 2–3 days per week on location during active construction periods.
