Base Location

You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of SSEN Distribution offices, including but not limited to - Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth, Glasgow, Reading and Portsmouth

Salary

£44,000 - £65,900 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

Flexibility services are critical to unlocking network capacity, managing constraints, and accelerating the transition to Net Zero.

By maximising existing assets, supporting future infrastructure, and enabling faster customer connections, flexibility delivers cost-effective solutions while creating opportunities for consumers and businesses to participate in energy markets.

So far, flexibility has helped defer or optimise more than £200 million of network investment.

As we expand its use to support connections, planned outages and low-carbon technology uptake, we're looking for a motivated individual to help shape the next phase of this exciting and rapidly evolving area of the energy sector.

  • You will
  • Support the procurement and promotion of flexibility services, driving market participation and competition.
  • Engage with flexibility providers to grow market liquidity and expand programme reach.
  • Monitor industry and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with licence obligations and market requirements.
  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of flexibility services across the business.
  • Help shape long‑term flexibility strategy, working with stakeholders to unlock new opportunities and support the energy transition.
  • You have
  • An understanding of economic principles as a foundation for supporting and understanding market design. Preferably having experience of operating in an electricity market.
  • Microsoft Excel skills and experience in completing data analysis and reporting results in a clear and accurate way is essential.
  • The ability to present complex concepts to different internal and external audiences with a range of backgrounds and understanding.
  • Experience building relationships with a range of stakeholders and gathering information on a range of different jobs with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new skills and concepts and being able to adapt as this changes.
