Base Location: For this role, we require the successful applicant to be based from one of our Scottish offices; you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week at one of the following office locations: Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contract Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the ASTI Offshore Capital Delivery programme. One position will support our HVDC Cables (Onshore and Offshore) programme of works. Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will provide the necessary pre and post‑contract procurement and commercial support to some of the largest projects within SSEN Transmission.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the P&C Manager / Senior Contract Manager in negotiating contract T&C’s for projects of significant value and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase.
  • Negotiate contract prices and ensure all contract prices can be substantiated and provide value for money to consumers.
  • Apply extensive stakeholder engagement and management skills to influence, lead and resolve disputes together with problem solving.
  • Be involved in Cost and Forecast Management via regular cost reporting and ensuring change management procedures are adhered to, Payment and Expenditure Management and Cost Estimating.
  • Provide robust post‑contract commercial management which will support the project goals and objectives, including negotiating/agreeing compensation events and ensuring that the core principles of the Commercial Manual are being implemented.

Qualifications:

  • A Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification, and working towards or having professional membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or CICES.
  • Experience of estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration.
  • Experience of drafting and interpreting commercial contracts together with knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke contract arrangements.
  • Experience working with NEC would be advantageous.
