Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth or Inverness.
Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car/car allowance + performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role: As Commercial Policy Manager, you will shape and improve the commercial and charging policies that underpin how electricity is transmitted across the north of Scotland. You’ll play a key role in influencing industry change, engaging widely across the sector, and ensuring fair, efficient and compliant commercial arrangements. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on the future of our energy system while working with a diverse network of internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of SSEN Transmission's commercial and charging arrangements, developing new policies and charging principles.
- Represent the organisation in key industry forums, working with local and central government, other electricity network operators, the Energy System Operator, and the regulator, Ofgem.
- Identify risks, opportunities and barriers to entry, ensuring regulatory and statutory compliance with licence obligations, applicable industry codes and the SSEN Transmission Charging Statement and Methodology.
- Support the delivery of SSEN Transmission's commercial, financial and technical objectives by leading the implementation of commercial policy, identifying opportunities for process improvement and working collaboratively across departments and corporate functions.
- Communicate clearly and proactively about policy, regulatory and legislative developments that affect the business.
You have:
- Strong knowledge of the GB electricity networks environment gained in a commercial, regulatory or legal setting.
- Experience working with external stakeholders including the Electricity System Operator, Ofgem, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), the Scottish Government, other Transmission Owners, and key industry bodies.
- Proven leadership experience, combined with confident communication skills that enable you to influence others, present formally and build effective internal and external relationships.
- A solid understanding of price control frameworks and the commercial challenges facing electricity networks.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the drive to deliver results and champion a positive safety culture.
