For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Glasgow, Perth, Inverness or Aberdeen.

Salary: c.£45,000 + performance‑related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We’re looking for a Commercial & Construction Solicitor to join our welcoming and well‑established legal team. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in supporting a business that is powering communities and shaping a more sustainable future. SSEN Transmission owns and operates the electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland. We transport energy from where it is generated to where it is needed, helping to ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply for the communities we serve. But that's not all – we're upgrading the grid to deliver cleaner, homegrown energy for the future and building a network for net zero to create secure power for generations to come.

You will:

  • Work closely with colleagues across project delivery, asset management, operations, procurement, and regulation, building strong and trusted relationships.
  • Offer clear, thoughtful, and commercially aware legal guidance on a range of commercial, construction, regulatory, and procurement matters.
  • Help teams to understand legal considerations and navigate risk with confidence and clarity.
  • Contribute as a valued member of the legal team, supporting colleagues across the business to achieve shared goals.

You have:

  • Qualification as a solicitor in Scotland, with around 0–2 years’ PQE.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the confidence to work independently while staying connected to the wider team.
  • Strong communication skills, with a thoughtful approach to negotiation and drafting.
  • A genuine interest in working in‑house and being part of a supportive, business‑facing legal function.
  • The ability to build positive, trusted relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external counsel.
