Base Location: You will be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Reading/Forbury Place, Havant/Penner Road.

Role: This role focuses on the core cloud platform and associated infrastructure and will give the right candidate the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure projects across a variety of services and cloud platforms, supporting SSE's strategic themes. As a team player, you will work closely with a team of strategists, architects, and engineers to craft technical solutions that in turn accelerate our business.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and progress opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement across the team, delivery, and operational practices.
- Collaborate to reduce operational risk within the core cloud platform.
- Partner with Product owners and management to manage and clearly articulate demand planning and delivery against the projected backlog and book of work.
- Provide support and best practice guidance for application teams on adopting our platforms.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of either Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure and Cloud Native Architectures is essential.
- A Cloud Certification in either Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure is desirable, but not essential.
- Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows and/or Linux) is desirable, but not essential.
- Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of operational support procedures.
- Ability to write software scripts in at least one general-purpose programming language (Bash, PowerShell, Python) or develop automation in one configuration tool (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Strong communication skills to be able to collaborate with teams across the organisation to help support SSE's cloud adoption.
