Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness.

The role: Service Management within Transmission Digital is a demanding yet rewarding senior proposition. This pivotal role is accountable for overseeing the delivery of IT and Operational Technology (OT) services across SSEN Transmission business. It will lead on service management engagements across the entire estate, ensuring that robust service management processes are defined, implemented and continuously reviewed to support business objectives. Balancing the demands of programme and project activity against delivering a consistent and reliable business-as-usual operational service to our customers is critical for success.

You will:

  • Accountable for the Operational Services for all production and non-production IT and OT services, managing service providers to ensure delivery against defined Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Responsible for strategic development and ongoing maintenance of effective commercial service management practices with external suppliers.
  • Ensure operational readiness by identifying potential risks and implementing scalable solutions that support long‑term service excellence.
  • Act as the intermediary between IT and our business, translating needs into effective solutions.
  • Develop a communication approach to ensure regular conversations with key stakeholders, capturing their requirements and feedback, and creating improvements where possible.
  • Represent SSEN Transmission in interactions with third‑party vendors, forming strong collaborative working relationships whilst ensuring vendor accountability.
  • Partner internally with key stakeholders to align contracts with evolving business needs.
  • Ensure IT/OT services comply with the Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) and relevant regulatory requirements by embedding robust governance practices.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and demonstrate behaviours such as integrity, attention to detail, and proactive risk management to uphold security and service resilience.

You have:

  • A recognised service management accreditation, e.g. ITIL v4.
  • Extensive experience of working within a Service Management role in a large, complex environment.
  • A strategic and proactive approach to problem solving, looking at the big picture and how decisions and actions impact across the business.
  • An ability to work in a cross functional environment and adapt to change quickly.
  • Experience with Operational Technology and the Utilities industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in a regulated environment is beneficial.
