Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Inverness or Aberdeen. If you are interested in relocating to the Western Isles, we are happy to discuss further. Due to the location and scale of our projects, there is a requirement for the Senior Project Manager to be on site, typically every 2nd week on Lewis (accessible by direct flights to & from Glasgow, Edinburgh & Inverness).
Salary: £59,800 - £89,800 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role involves delivering a 400kV & 132kV substation package within the Lewis Hub project, which forms part of our Pathway to 2030 Programme. You will be responsible for managing a multi-disciplinary project team and framework supply chain partners under the Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework.
You will:
- Be responsible for the delivery of £500m+ substation construction as part of the wider Lewis Hub, whilst managing a team of Project Managers/ Assistant Project Managers and managing escalations with external delivery contractors.
- Work closely with the Lead Project Manager to uphold the highest level of safety performance and ensure projects are refined, constructed and commissioned in accordance with regulatory requirements whilst championing SSE's Safety Golden Rules.
- Provide end-to-end management of major NEC3 construction works contracts, including contract negotiation, commercial strategy, compensation event management, change control, dispute avoidance, and interface management, whilst acting as the commercial lead for the project team.
- Support in the management of internal and external stakeholders, including framework supply chain partners from the ECI stage through construction stage, delivering to programme and budget.
- Provide guidance and demonstrate our core values as well as manage teams, ensuring these are highly capable, well-motivated, and organised to deliver consistent excellence.
You have:
- Prior experience delivering large-scale multi-disciplinary projects in a delivery role, typically on packages in excess of £50m+.
- Experience in the delivery of AC substations is preferred but not essential.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and a strong understanding of project management systems and governance for the execution of large projects.
- Contract negotiation and management experience (NEC3 experience is preferable), with the ability to forecast and control costs as well as develop and manage integrated project programmes.
- An engineering, construction, or project management qualification / degree or equivalent experience.
