Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.
Salary: £68,100 - £102,100 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role:
- The Senior Programme Assurance Manager plays a key strategic role in strengthening the effectiveness of programme governance, assurance and control across SSEN Transmission’s investment portfolio.
- The role is accountable for shaping and delivering a forward-looking programme assurance approach that adheres to SSE’s Group Large Capital Project Policy and the principles contained within it to support executive decision-making within SSEN Transmission that protects long-term delivery confidence and enables the business to achieve its strategic objectives.
You will:
- Be responsible for development and delivery of a strategic Business-Unit-led programme assurance framework for SSEN Transmission.
- Provide strategic assurance insight on programme performance, governance and control effectiveness.
- Drive improvements in programme governance, assurance maturity and delivery discipline.
- Shape strategic business improvement through assurance-led insight.
- Provide senior assurance leadership and trusted challenge across the business.
You have:
- Strong knowledge of major programme and portfolio delivery within a regulated utility, infrastructure, engineering or transformation environment, including the governance and assurance needs associated with long-term capital investment.
- Extensive experience in programme assurance, portfolio governance, risk management or a related strategic delivery discipline, with the credibility to engage senior stakeholders and influence major decisions through understanding complex delivery environments, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and translating findings into practical and strategically relevant recommendations.
- Credibility and confidence, with the gravitas to operate effectively as a senior professional and provide objective challenge in high-profile delivery and governance environments through excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage, influence and challenge constructively at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to maintain pace, judgement and quality when operating in complex, time-sensitive assurance environments, while retaining a strategic perspective on longer-term implications.
- Qualification to degree level with experience and competence commensurate with membership of a relevant professional body or equivalent senior professional standing.
