Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: £66,100 - £99,100 plus car allowance, performance‑related bonus, and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Role: As Lead Solutions Architect OT you will provide technical leadership, facilitation, analysis and design expertise to develop the OT domain solution architecture for the Transmission Business Unit.

You Will: Reporting to the Head of Architecture you will create high‑level solution models, domain roadmaps and solution architectures, including solution patterns/blueprints, to guide solution decisions for the OT domain aligned to business operations and RIIO‑T3 investment needs.

  • Subject Matter Leadership: Enhance and enrich the OT domain target architecture through vision, roadmap and guardrails. Provide OT domain solutions architecture direction and guidance to the Transmission Business Unit, work with stakeholders to understand business requirements, recommend solution options that fit requirements and budget, propose changes to process, policy and guardrails, ensure compliance with architectural governance, represent projects at governance boards, and assure delivery of projects to remain aligned to agreed architectures.
  • Solutions Architecture: Deliver high‑level solution models and architectures in line with business requirements, organisational and industry standards. Collaborate with SSE Group enterprise architects, infrastructure, networks and security teams in developing architecture deliverables. Ensure compliance with the Target Architecture, roadmaps, guardrails, OT principles and standards, and follow the Architecture Governance process for any deviations.
  • Control and Security: Provide architectural guidance and oversight across control systems and SCADA platforms, ensuring resilient, secure and standards‑aligned solutions that support operational continuity and the wider OT strategy. Ensure solutions are secure by design and built within defined security guidelines and guardrails to protect the Transmission Business Unit from cyber‑attack and data loss.
  • Industry Awareness: Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of the main technology base, and a general understanding of other technology bases that form the overall technical direction. Keep abreast of developments from strategic partners to keep architectures aligned to standards, deviating only for commercial benefit.
  • Communication, Engagement and Innovation: Engage with a range of stakeholders to develop solutions that meet business needs. Promote and encourage enterprise and innovation, look for new answers and delivery of fresh approaches.

You Have: Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related field, or equivalent experience, with extensive experience in OT domain solutions architecture in asset‑intensive industries, ideally energy and power. Ability to understand long‑term business strategy and short‑term perspectives, translating business needs into solution architecture requirements. Practical experience of agile development processes, including DevOps, Scrum, Kanban and lean development, and the ability to estimate the financial implications of proposed solution architectures. Strong stakeholder management skills, strong influencing ability and deep understanding of business objectives to shape strategic direction of the Transmission OT domain solutions architecture.
