The role SSE Renewables operates and maintains over 1000MW of Hydro Generation and associated infrastructure. Our Operations and Maintenance Teams are responsible for the operation and maintenance of our hydro generation assets. We currently have an opportunity for an Electrical Craftsperson to join our Hydro Generation Operations and Maintenance team based at Clachan, Sloy or Inverawe Power stations in Argyll.
Your accountabilities will include:
- Carrying out mechanical / electrical maintenance activities plus civil works within your competence.
- Liaising with other maintenance personnel in day-to-day rectification, repair and designated project work.
- Carrying out routine inspections and checks to ensure our equipment and fixed plant is at a high standard of operational effectiveness.
- Working closely with other team members, you’ll report operational defects as they arise, carry out risk assessments plus environmental and safety inspections, and will receive training to operate and isolate fixed generation plant.
To be successful in this role, we would love you to have:
- An Electrical or Multi-skilled craftsperson background, ideally with previous experience of working on Electrical Generation Equipment.
- A minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds or equivalent craft apprenticeship certificates.
- A practical mindset with a passion for working as a part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be interacting with the public and people at all levels of the business.
- A good degree of computer literacy, with the ability to become proficient in using our maintenance scheduling and reporting software and other company software applications for which training will be given.
- A high flexible attitude to all aspects of work in the section, with the ability to work as part of a team and communicate with colleagues effectively.
Due to the nature of the role you may, from time to time, be required to work outside in all weather conditions and it may be necessary to carry out work out with normal working hours. A full driving licence is essential, and you should reside, or be prepared to relocate within 30 miles of the Power Stations listed.
