Base Location: Flexible Scotland. We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland, Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee, Inverness or Caithness.

Salary: £57,100 - £87,100 + car/car allowance + 10% performance‑related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role:

  • SSEN Transmission is looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Operations Project Manager to join our dynamic Operations team.
  • This is a key role supporting the successful delivery of our RIIO‑T3 business plan, where you’ll lead the execution of critical projects including Control system upgrades, Installation of condition‑based monitoring systems and Delivery of innovation initiatives.
  • You’ll also play a vital part in managing Service Level Agreements across the Operations function, ensuring high standards and operational excellence.
  • Lead multi‑disciplined project teams involved in various Operations related projects.
  • Deliver a portfolio of capital projects (£200m), both Base Capex and Large Capital Projects, as part of our RIIO‑T3 portfolio, delivering on time, budget and quality.
  • Ensure that all business requirements (including project governance) are being met and that the delivered solution is sustainable and fit‑for‑purpose.
  • Support the definition, execution and management of Service Level Agreements with OEM partners for a variety of critical operational assets.
  • Accurately forecast and control project costs, manage programmes and resources, determine issues that require escalation and produce regular reports to update key business stakeholders.
  • Support the coordination of Contractors performing work at live operational assets, including upgrade works and defect remedial works.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure that contractors and internal stakeholders are meeting established Health and Safety criteria such as CDM and ESQC Regulations.

You have:

  • A strong engineering, construction or operations background, preferably with HV substation, GIS, HV Cables experience including safety and CDM regulations.
  • Experience and an understanding of the administration of the NEC3 suite of contracts is advantageous.
  • The ability to deliver within challenging timescales, effectively prioritise, plan and organise, balancing immediate and long‑term business priorities.
  • An understanding of Industry legislation, Health and Safety legislation, regulatory requirements.
  • Experience creating strong relationships with Asset Management & Operations team members, engineers, managers, procurement, and external OEMs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and solid presentation skills required.
  • Due to the location of our projects, there is a need to have an applicable driver's license.
