An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contract Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the SSEN Large Capital Delivery Directorate.
Responsibilities- Manage the tender process for projects from issue of invitation to tender through to contract award and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase, including management of commercial staff.
- Manage the procurement of essential work scopes and procure at lowest cost of ownership, ensuring best value and covering all commercial, business and legal project risks.
- Negotiate terms and conditions within own area of responsibility to ensure ongoing value for money throughout the lifetime of the contract.
- Support cost estimating and forecasting to required standard and accuracy.
- Provide robust post‑contract commercial management services.
- Provide a world‑class procurement and commercial service to internal stakeholders ensuring compliance with internal controls in line with capital project governance and commercial manuals.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification with demonstrable experience of managing contracts on large capital or programmes of work.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Utilities Contract Regulations 2016 and Procurement Act 2023.
- Knowledge of commercial governance arrangements for large capital projects and experience in delivering projects.
- Experience in estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management and contract administration.
- Experience in drafting and interpreting commercial contracts, knowledge of standard‑form construction contracts and bespoke arrangements, and experience with NEC Contracts.
