We’re excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our Connections Policy and Performance team, where you’ll lead the development of performance data for electricity connections and use that insight to drive meaningful improvements.
At SSEN Distribution, our Commercial and Connections teams serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking new electricity connections, upgrades to existing ones, installation of generation, or relocation of supply equipment. Whether it\’s a single home, a housing or industrial development, a generation project, or an independent distribution network, we’re here to support our customers every step of the way.
The Connections Performance Manager leads a team of approximately 30 people, ensuring efficient and timely closure of connection projects and accurate reporting of performance metrics in line with regulatory standards.
You will
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all regulatory submissions for the connections business under our RIIO-ED2 obligations. This includes annual performance reporting to Ofgem through the Regulatory Instructions and Guidance (RIGs) for Connections.
- Develop and distribute internal performance KPIs for the connections business.
- Proactively identify compliance or performance concerns and implement solutions that drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee Connections Pricing by working with Procurement, Delivery, and Design teams to ensure connection quotation rates accurately reflect delivery rates, maximising gross profit on each project.
- Manage a team of cost and financial analysts to ensure connections projects are administratively ready for financial closure in a timely manner, supporting internal budget targets.
- Shape the requirements for key aspects of our internal transformation project, driving continuous improvements around pricing and job closures.
You have
- Experience of performance managing highly productive large teams, projects and programmes either through direct employee workforce and/or third-party contractors.
- Excellent personal communications skills and the ability to impact and influence the decisions of key stakeholders.
- Strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to work in a challenging business environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with a solid understanding of systems and data and how they can be applied in forecasting and risk management. In addition, you’re confident working with large datasets to assess past performance and provide clear, actionable recommendations for future improvements.
- Highly proficient Excel skills and experience with Power Bi (advantageous).
- Experience in dealing with Ofgem, Government departments and key industry bodies would be an advantage.
In addition, an understanding of the price control challenges and targets would be beneficial. A background in Distribution and/or Transmission ideally gained in an operational and/or commercial environment is desirable, but not essential.
