Base Location: Muir of Ord, Inverness
Salary: £15.29 – £18.02 per hour (45 hour working week) depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role:
SSE Renewables operate the largest fleet of hydro-electric power assets across eight hydro schemes in Scotland. Our portfolio totals 1,459MW of installed capacity, which includes pumped storage and flexible hydro. Our assets consist of some of the most iconic power station sites constructed, which brought hydro-electric power to the Scottish Glens 80 years ago.
You will:
- Maintain the Civil Hydro Assets within our Affric, Beauly, Conon, Shin and Great Glen catchments.
- Be part of a squad of 4 responsible for carrying out a wide range of Civil construction duties and activities with our Hydro Catchment, ranging from replacing or repairing concrete structures and pipelines to the maintenance of buildings, roads, bridges and other assets.
- Work on the Hydro Assets involves working the majority of the time outside throughout the year, the role involves a level of physical work from hillwalking, ditching clearing and general manual handling.
You have:
- Past experience in civil construction activities, mainly general labouring duties supporting a squad undertaking concrete repairs, RC concreting works and general maintenance. We will consider applicants that have transferable skills from other industries.
- Plant operation experience would be advantageous. Training opportunities if you do not have the relevant experience will be available to allow you to gain experience with relevant plant for your role.
- Safety is one of our key priorities so you should have the ability to risk assess activities throughout your working day and to work within our Health and Safety guidelines.
- The work involves regular travel and where necessary, working away from home may be required. As you will be travelling to different sites it is essential you already hold a full, current driving licence.
