The roleSSE Energy Markets Finance is looking for a Finance Business Partner who will focus on performance improvement, business analysis & insight across the Energy Markets Business unit.
Reporting to Head of Business Partnering (Thermal & EM), you will be responsible for supporting SSE Energy Markets Commercial teams and the Finance Director (EM). You will provide financial insight and analysis to enable improved decision making and support improved business planning. You will be responsible for ownership of the Energy Markets financial plans and budgets within SSE Energy Markets and will provide support and challenge to senior stakeholders across the wider business.
In addition, you will have wider responsibilities to work across the Groups Energy Business (Thermal, Energy Customer Solution, SSE Renewables and SSE Enterprise) to provide financial insight into market wide commodity exposures and ensure complex portfolio impacts are understood by senior stakeholders across the group.
You will be required to work closely with a range of stakeholders within the finance community, including teams responsible for Financial Reporting and Financial Control. You will ensure that impacts of Energy Market interactions are incorporated fully into key financial deliverables, including budgeting, forecasting and annual external reporting.
Relationships built with commercial and energy market experts across the Groups Energy Business will be critical in delivering key management information to ensure understanding of financial risks and opportunities.
You will be responsible for
- Finance Business Partnering: Provide strategic finance support to SSE Energy Markets Commercial and Middle Office teams, fostering strong relationships across the business.
- Performance & Risk Insight: Deliver analysis and insight into market financial performance, risks, and opportunities, including commodity exposure impacts.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budget and in-year forecasting cycles, as well as the 5 & 10-year forecasts, ensuring stakeholder engagement and understanding.
- Decision Support & Investment Analysis: Support investment cases and business planning by offering financial challenge, review, and insight to senior management.
- Reporting & Governance: Ensure consistency in finance reporting by reviewing business papers and enhancing management information for better decision-making.
You have
- A great understanding of energy markets in which SSE operate and enthusiastic curiosity about the energy contest.
- A full professional accountancy qualification, with over 5 years of post-qualification experience in a Business Partner / Senior Finance Manager, business-interfacing role with experience of solving business issues of similar scale and complexity.
- Ability to interpret and assimilate multiple data sources, including external market data, and rendering into meaningful insight and appropriate recommendations and clear actions
- A track record of effectively communicating financial performance to commercial colleagues to embed financial understanding within the business
- The ability to influence strategy and translate this into actionable programmes, opportunities or activities that result in improved profitability or risk mitigation
