The role:

Our Commercial function helps SSE Airtricity make better pricing decisions across our electricity and gas customer portfolios. We do this by building strong commercial models, reliable reporting, clear business processes and insight that helps the business understand what is driving performance. As a Lead Pricing Analyst, you will play a key role in improving the tools, models and processes used by the Pricing teams within the Commercial function. This is a role for someone who enjoys solving business problems with data; building models, improving reporting, automating manual processes and turning complex information into clear, useful insight. Rather than focusing only on day-to-day pricing activity, this role will help strengthen the foundations that pricing decisions are built on. You will work across areas such as customer profitability, pricing models, wholesale cost inputs, demand data, contract performance, margin reporting and scenario analysis.

A typical project could involve:

  • Building a new pricing model in Excel or Python.
  • Creating a Power BI dashboard for the wider team.
  • Improving how data flows into a pricing process utilising tools such as Databricks.
  • Helping automate a manual reporting process that currently takes too much time.

You will:

  • Build, improve and maintain pricing, profitability and forecasting models used across the Commercial team to support repeatable business processes.
  • Develop tools, dashboards and reports to give clearer visibility of pricing performance, margin, risk and commercial trends, to help Pricing colleagues make faster, clearer and better-evidenced decisions.
  • Work with large volumes of customer, contract, consumption, pricing and market data, turning raw information into structured, analysis-ready datasets.
  • Support the wider pricing team by making complex calculations, reports and models easier to understand, use and maintain.
  • Work with IT, data and business colleagues to improve how data is sourced, structured, governed and used in commercial decision-making.

You have:

  • Strong numerical reasoning and the ability to work confidently with complex data, calculations and commercial assumptions, in order to break down complex issues and build practical solutions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI to create dashboards, visualise performance and communicate insight.
  • Familiarity with Python, Databricks, SQL or similar tools, particularly when used to handle large volumes of data.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical work in plain English and articulate the value of what you have built.
