The role involves leading the delivery of new and replacement subsea distribution power cable projects, interconnecting island communities primarily across the north and north‑west of Scotland. Reporting to a Lead Project Manager, the role works closely with multi‑disciplinary project teams, contract delivery partners, and key stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and successful project outcomes.

You will:

  • Be accountable for creating and maintaining an exemplary safety culture across high‑risk subsea, marine and construction environments, ensuring full compliance with CDM regulations and proactive engagement with contractors, regulators and statutory stakeholders.
  • Establish and lead clear delivery strategies, robust programmes, procurement approaches and consent strategies, ensuring projects comply with recognised governance frameworks and are fully resourced and financially viable.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and supply chain partners to refine designs, pass governance gates, and safely execute projects to agreed cost, schedule and quality standards.
  • Own all commercial and financial aspects of delivery including contracting, budget control, leadership papers, spend forecasting and managing projects typically ranging from £5m–£50m.
  • Build, lead and develop high‑performing teams while maintaining strong relationships with landowners, statutory bodies and partners, driving innovation, continuous improvement and future project success.

You have:

  • Proven leadership and project management capability, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies and the ability to lead complex delivery teams effectively.
  • Strong safety, governance and regulatory awareness, including relevant statutory and CDM regulations.
  • Relevant industry experience, gained within electricity distribution, utilities, construction or submarine cabling, ideally delivering major capital projects in a regulated environment.
  • Technical, commercial and delivery expertise, supported by strong engineering and construction knowledge, experience managing integrated programmes, cost forecasting, reporting and successful end‑to‑end project delivery.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder and contract management skills, with the ability to represent the business externally, negotiate effectively and manage third‑party engineering and construction contracts.
