You'll be expected to spend 100% of your working week at Slough Power Station

£43,704- £51,484 depending on skills and experience + £12.8K shift allowance + £2.8k London Allowance (OTE £48K-£66K) +performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

Slough Heat and Power operates a Biomass thermal boiler to generate electricity and provide steam and district heating to the surrounding Slough Trading Estate network and customers.

As Unit Operator you will be part of a shift team working day and night shifts over a 5 week rolling shift pattern to ensure base load generation is maintained.

  • Applying company safety procedures in all aspects of operation to guarantee that the accident rate is reduced to zero.
  • Comply with our IPPC permit and ensure that the accreditation of the ISO14001 is maintained.
  • Establish appropriate standards of conduct through leading by example in safety, environmental issues, time keeping and professionalism.
  • Maintain competencies for all plant and duties you are accountable for.
  • Provide support to the operations manager in any relevant staff development, share information and give advice when required.
  • Assist in all Operational activities as directed by the Shift Team Leader
  • To be considered for this role
  • Minimum safety accreditation - IOSH/NEBOSH
  • Experience of operating solid fuel boilers, steam turbines and all associated auxiliary equipment. City and Guilds Thermal Plant Operation or equivalent would be advantageous.
  • Experience of Safe Systems of Work, Power Generation Safety Rules, and Authorised Person's competence.
  • Good inter personnel skills and leadership skills to work with all Power Station stakeholders and to manage the shift teams when needed.
  • Aware of Environmental Legislation, policies, and procedures to maintain the Environmental ISO14001 standard and Environment Agency Integrated Pollution Prevention Control.
