The Strategic Workforce Planning Manager will develop a robust forecasting model for the Customer Service Directorate at SSE Business Energy, providing accurate financial budgets and baseline assumptions to support strategic planning. The role will design and implement short-, mid-, and long-term workforce plans to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.

Key responsibilities include driving continuous improvement, ensuring compliance, and monitoring operational health through KPIs, agent performance, and customer behaviour. The position will also oversee analytical governance, inform AI and technology business cases, and deliver performance dashboards and reports to senior management.

You will:

  • Work with department heads within the directorate to ensure people planning and management are of the highest standard and consistent across the organisation.
  • Provide advice and support to Heads of Department in the directorate, providing challenge and technical input where appropriate.
  • Promote team working, knowledge sharing and resource coordination across directorate functions, working with other senior leaders to achieve these outcomes more widely across the team.
  • Identify, design, and implement best ways of working to achieve maximum effectiveness and equality of access to our services through benchmarking good practice, listening to staff and consulting service users.
  • Use initiative, be innovative and seek opportunities for strategic sustainable change to deliver market leading services across all mediums of customer contact.
  • Seek, encourage, recognise ideas and have the courage to take risks and change how things are done, challenging the status quo appropriately where required.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with wider Business Energy functions and other internal support teams that will enable you to engage in the development of process improvements, technical resolutions and to reconfigure the evolving needs of technical supports for the Customer Service Directorate.

You have:

  • Experience in a Strategic Workforce Planning role in a similar organisation.
  • Degree in Business/Strategic/Data related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Financial awareness and commercial knowledge – Numerical, analytical skills, Strong report writing skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and presentation skills.
  • Track record of strong problem solving and analytical skills within a changing environment.
  • Proven record of delivering efficiencies (Lean 6 sigma an advantage).
  • Strong Microsoft tools knowledge e.g., PowerPoint, Power BI, Power Automate.
