You’ll be at the heart of fostering a strong safety-first culture, bringing clarity, care and collaboration to complex compliance challenges.

Working within the FM team, you'll oversee statutory compliance programmes across a diverse range of building systems and assets, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC/F-Gas, fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene (Legionella) etc. You'll work closely with FM teams, site responsible persons, contractors and stakeholders to ensure that statutory inspections, maintenance activities, remedial works and compliance records are managed effectively and in line with regulatory requirements. We are seeking a compliance professional with a strong electrical engineering or electrical compliance background who can apply their technical expertise across a broader range of building compliance disciplines. While electrical compliance will be a core area of focus, you'll also play a key role in supporting compliance assurance across other statutory systems and services, helping to drive compliance excellence throughout the estate.

You Will:

  • Develop, coordinate and monitor statutory compliance programmes across SSE's property portfolio, ensuring all regulatory obligations are met across all compliance areas, such as electrical, mechanical, HVAC/F-Gas, fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene (Legionella) etc.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors, FM teams and Responsible Persons to ensure service delivery meets statutory requirements, contractual obligations and agreed SLAs.
  • Guide contractor performance with a focus on quality, value and alignment to service standards and expectations.
  • Analyse compliance records, maintenance data and audit findings to identify risks, drive corrective actions and support a proactive approach to compliance management.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records within asset management systems and support internal and external audits.
  • Identify, scope and manage remedial works required to address compliance issues, ensuring timely resolution and risk reduction.
  • Provide clear, insightful reporting and performance analysis to support compliance governance, budgeting and strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor changes in legislation, industry guidance and best practice to ensure continued compliance across the estate.

You Have:

  • A background in electrical engineering, electrical compliance or building services, with experience applying compliance principles across a broad range of building systems and statutory compliance disciplines.
  • Relevant technical qualifications and a genuine commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • A strong understanding of statutory compliance requirements affecting commercial buildings, including electrical systems, HVAC/F-Gas, fire safety, asbestos and water hygiene (Legionella) etc.
  • Knowledge of compliance auditing, statutory inspections, risk management processes and the delivery of remedial works.
  • Experience working in a compliance, technical assurance, engineering or hard services FM role within a commercial property or estates environment.
  • Experience managing contractors and monitoring performance against compliance standards, contractual requirements and SLAs.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Flexible benefits to fit your life:

  • Enjoy discounts on private healthcare and gym memberships.
  • Wellbeing benefits like a free online GP and 24/7 counselling service.
  • Interest‑free loans on tech and transport season tickets, or a new bike with our Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Generous family entitlements such as maternity and adoption pay, and paternity leave.
