Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations – Perth

Salary: £66,100 - £99,100 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role involves playing a central role in shaping how SSEN Transmission's Control Centre operates as it grows rapidly to support the UK's transition to net zero. You will establish the processes, controls and ways of working that enable a world class control centre. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design, documentation and governance of operational policies, processes and assurance frameworks for the SSEN Transmission Control Centre.
  • Building a strong, skilled team focused on process improvement, compliance and control centre resilience.
  • Developing emergency and resilience plans, ensuring the organisation is prepared, trained and confident in how to respond during system events.
  • Improving efficiency by introducing clear processes, measurable performance and consistent ways of working.
  • Representing SSEN Transmission in industry forums, contributing expert insight on grid codes, standards and operational policy.

You should have:

  • Strong experience within a transmission network operator, control centre environment or another highly regulated operational industry such as aviation or water.
  • The ability to write, structure and embed clear operational policies and processes, supported by recognised process methodology skills.
  • A strong understanding of grid codes, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to build capability, coach others and lead through change.
  • A calm, structured and analytical approach, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to make decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations.
