Base Location: Flexible Scotland. We will need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland - Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: £66,100 - £99,100 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | options available.

The role:

At SSEN Transmission, we put health and safety first—it’s central to everything we do. As Lead Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Manager, you’ll provide guidance, advice, and support on compliance, innovation, and SHW requirements across SSEN Transmission projects. Your role will be crucial in helping us continually enhance SHW performance in line with SSE standards to ensure everyone gets home safe.

You will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and support to the business, ensuring a proactive approach to safety, health and wellbeing is adopted and reinforced across the business.
  • In collaboration with project teams and contract partners, drive continuous improvement by overseeing SHW performance, enabling risk-based decisions, fostering innovation and ensuring robust assurance arrangements are in place.
  • Identify emerging risks and trends, ensure effective systems are in place to maintain a forward looking view, and drive targeted improvements that set teams up for success.
  • Model high standards, motivate teams and work with key stakeholders to maximise performance, strengthen continuous improvement and reinforce a strong, positive safety culture.
  • Act as an Enterprise Leader, working collaboratively across the broader SHW function to create a healthy, happy and safe workplace and to deliver improvements aligned with the SHW strategy.

You have:

  • A Professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (or similar safety-focused discipline), and IOSH membership (or willingness to obtain).
  • Proven experience in Safety, Health and Wellbeing roles, especially within large infrastructure projects or high-hazard industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to work efficiently and deliver results under tight deadlines.
